MADAM PRESIDENT

The U.S.A. has elected a new president, Joe Berry. Americans are anxious to rally around him and his running mate, the country’s first female Vice President. When the president is suddenly and tragically incapacitated during his first months in Office, Sharon MacDonald becomes Madam President. MacDonald pledges to continue Berry’s vision and agenda while at the same time Congress appoints another Vice President, Alberta Clifford, who is clearly not MacDonald’s choice. But “Girls Rule” is the media banner. It is only a short time until rumors of VP Clifford’s link to a clandestine order of women activists, Women for World Harmony and Tranquility, emerges. Washington DC really starts to heat up when it is separately leaked that powerful members of Congress are meeting covertly on a game-changing agenda. President MacDonald must lead the nation, choosing her course, while responding to these challenges with care. With her own VP seemingly working against her, can she stop them? Does she want to? Or worse, might she end up like Joe Berry?

Okay, so it's not "Moby Dick"...nevertheless, I loved this book. I found it especially topical--and accurate--in its treatment of the Republican Federated States group and the machinations that go along with political strife. Seems as though this is exactly what is happening now in our culture, albeit a simplified version of a complex issue. The writing is pretty good, and the plot moves right along. Manages to have characters well delineated, especially the Congressional "leaders." The weakest point is the Madam President herself, who appears to take all-in-stride the division of a country...kind of a Scarlett O'Hara-"Tomorrow-is-another-day," laissez faire attitude. But, she ultimately proves to be a plucky little thing when the chips are down.

If you fancy a good mindless read, like politics, and are fed up with our defunct Congressional system, this is for you.

The concept of s female president is not too far away. The idea of two nations...I don't know. It does provide food for thought, but not too soon I hope.
It started out as a great political thriller which is right up my alley. However, the last 1/4 of the book fell apart in my opinion. As the strong proactive woman she is, she should have had greater active participation at the end in bringing down the bad guys, instead of just letting it happen as it did. I was disappointed. It would have been an even greater story than it was at the end.
I certainly give credit to the author for a novel (no pun intended) plot that seems impossible but then history tells us that nothing is impossible!
Very clever premise ,two ladies running the country, and a band of five women(will not call them ladies)trying to undermined them and the presidency.Looking forward to the sequel.
How this novel was ever published is beyond me. Was I reading a pre-order novel? To say that it was poorly researched would be to give it too much credit. Awful, juvenile, embarrassingly melodramatic. Do not buy this book and god forbid the author succeed in publishing another.
Well for a different type of novel it was interesting. A little off for certain areas, like the women's organization that murdered the male President and had other objectives was a little too much. The family life of MDME President was right on but other areas were way out of whack in actual mechanics of the modern position and actual workings of the office.. I really liked her walks among the monuments with the head Secret Service agent. It was an interesting read and kept me wanting to see what happens next.
An anonymous group with powerful and financial connections wants to change the balance of power in the Government for a female President and Vice President.

An attempt on the male President has removed him from the equation and left him in a comatose state.

Girls rule !!!!!!

An audacious plan to split the USA in two is on the cards, much to the dissatisfaction of the anon group.
Further deaths and destruction occur before the group meet their fatal end.

A good read.
